Breaking News Update #2: Ceasefire in Effect

I just wanted to share another update about this day to keep readers looped in as the situation develops.

In accordance with the political directive, the ceasefire as part of the agreement for the return of the hostages in the Gaza Strip is in effect as of 11:15 (Israel time) on Sunday, January 19, 2025.

The ceasefire was supposed to come into effect at 8:30 (Israel time) but was delayed as Hamas failed to fulfill its obligations and contrary to the agreement, did not provide the State of Israel with the names of the returning female hostages on time.

Prior to the ceasefire, the IDF completed a series of strikes in the Gaza Strip.

The IDF remains prepared to operate defensively or offensively in response to any violation of the ceasefire. The IDF will ensure the safety of the residents of Israel, particularly those in communities near the Gaza Strip.

We will continue to protect the State of Israel and its residents.

I look forward to sharing when we can confirm that we have begun to welcome home the hostages who were so brutally abducted 471 days ago and held in captivity.
