Hezbollah Threatens Millions of Israelis

IDF thwarts planned Hezbollah rocket and missile attack against Israel

In the early hours of Sunday morning, while most Israelis across the country were still asleep, the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon was awake and preparing to launch an extensive rocket and missile attack aimed directly at central and northern Israel. 

These preparations to carry out an attack follow recent threats from Hezbollah to escalate the situation in the region. The IDF has been closely monitoring Hezbollah’s capabilities and readiness, ensuring an increased state of alert to counter these threats in real-time. Therefore,

when we detected Hezbollah’s preparations to fire this morning, the IDF acted swiftly in self-defense against this immediate threat. 

In a complex, precise and coordinated operation, the Israeli Air Force successfully targeted thousands of rocket launcher barrels in over 40 areas in southern Lebanon, dismantling the infrastructure Hezbollah intended to use in attacks against us. 

Hezbollah deliberately placed some of these rocket launchers dangerously close to civilian areas in Lebanon, once again showing how Hezbollah prioritizes terrorizing Israelis over the safety of the Lebanese people. To mitigate harm to civilians, the IDF issued warnings and urged Lebanese civilians to evacuate these areas for their safety.

Since this morning, Hezbollah has fired hundreds of rockets and UAVs toward northern Israel - a fraction of the number that they planned to fire - continuing their campaign of aggression that began on October 8th. Over the past 10 months, Hezbollah has launched around 7,000 rockets, missiles, and explosive UAVs at Israeli homes and communities. Hezbollah’s attacks have killed children, parents and the elderly, destroyed homes in communities across northern Israel, and have burnt hundreds of acres of land. To date, 60,000 Israelis are still unable to safely return to their homes in the north due to the threat of terror from Hezbollah in Lebanon.

This clearly shows the difference between us: Hezbollah and other terror organizations target civilians with indiscriminate and inaccurate munitions, while we defend ourselves and strike back against military targets with precision and accuracy.

And when understanding exactly who Hezbollah is and what it’s trying to achieve, it’s critical to remember that Hezbollah’s terrorist activities are funded, trained, and directed by the Iranian regime. Iran bears responsibility for the current escalation and its consequences. Their actions jeopardize not only Lebanon and Israel but also the broader region, risking a wider escalation. 

As we continue to monitor the situation, the IDF remains on high alert, and the Home Front Command has updated defensive guidelines for affected regions in accordance with the situation.

The Israel Defense Forces’ position remains clear. We will not tolerate these attacks on our civilians. Our response will always be measured, precise, and focused on defending our people. We are committed to protecting the people of Israel, and we will continue to take all necessary actions to ensure the security of our nation.
