I really hope you do go back to

Destroying Hamas. Otherwise the cycle will repeat in time and more Israelis will suffer. They have to be gone. And those responsible finished. Dead. Otherwise there is no deterrent. Obviously seeing children reunited with (what is left of) their families is joyful. But I’m worried for Israel that Hamas will extract maximum advantage from this.

I agree. The hostage release is great, but there is a broader, bigger picture that needs to be addressed and I don't feel tingly all over from seeing negotiations with a barbaric, sadistic, evil death cult. I need to know that the IDF is still on track for the final objective.

It’s over. They’re extending the truce. Israel have lost the war. I can’t believe this. I really thought this time they would not appease

Don't think that yet...also we know nothing that is going on behind the scenes.

You probably saw already but Daniel Gordis touched on this subject in his latest newsletter.

LTC Hecht , can you please address the concern and anxiety we have about the truce being extended? How does this benefit the rest of Israelis? How does this achieve the objective of removing Hamas as a threat?

I’ve been glued to the news with such a mix of emotions the past few days. The joy of seeing families reunited mixed with sadness at what they had to go through. The bias in the news, at its very least lazy journalism, is infuriating. Comments that the hostages look happy and well, when they’ve endured such terrible events and have committed no crime. The evil terrorists, acting like brave soldier heroes escorting the hostages into the vans with their guns, pathetic cowards that attack families and babies sleeping. Too cowardly to actually fight properly against an army in combat. But I’m so glad the freed hostages were received by the IDF who put thought into a process of welcoming them home, and the emotional / physical support they might need. Such moving scenes and thank you all for being so thoughtful.

If im held hostage anywhere i would do anything to deescalate, if that means smiling - well ill do that.

Then there's also this that not every human is the same and there could well be exceptions but we don't know what made them smile or wink ... if one of the bad guys was nice, if it was survival emotion to be nice, if it was happiness to have hope or else... it was a traumatic situation and we can only guess till victims speak about it.

All we know now is they have been held against their will by highly weaponized people and been through the ultimate nightmare of surviving a massacre,,, more than a normal mind can grasp.

If Israel don't take over Gaza after this war, Israel should be blame for future attack.

Israel need to stop trusting the united state. A country that helped afghan terrorists and pretend to run away shouldn't be trusted for the security of Israel.

My observation has always been that if the Palestinians concentrated on building their country rather than destroying some one else's.they should be there by now. Their neighbour did it against all odds and odd ball claims still!

As for those who call out for boycotting Israeli products I recommend that before they go for a medical intervention they stop their surgeon and hospital from using any Israeli medical miracles and stick only to Hamas Made ones

If all of this was not tragic it would split my sides with laughter.

Thank you Sir for your insights. You are so very right about the prevalent moral confusion occurring. Thank you for speaking out against it.

Wow! So thankful for the families being reunited. Thankful for the Israelis’ compassionate care of returning family members. My heart breaks for those left behind. Praying their hope endures because their Israelis brothers and sisters will indeed bring them home. All in God’s time. In God’s way. By God’s hand.

Continuing to pray for Israel.

I could not believe what I was looking at - grown men who should be role models in their families and communities taking photos of persons dangling from an electricity pole and invoking God in the process. These people want me to sympathise with their cause?! I pity Palestinian children for the legacy they are being left with by their own parents!

I have got some thoughts:

1. Regarding big media, when talking / writing about "hostages", while this is what it really is - not naming people, at least with forename takes away personality and makes it more easy for readers and listeners to avoid reflecting on the topic in my opinion. Its not "just" hostages, these are individuals, each one with a tragic emotional story and reading or hearing names goes in way better than numbers - at least for me. It "hits" different to hear or read names than numbers ... my thoughts on that matter.

2. I was shocked when i saw pictures of the first release transport when they drove in an ambulance with blank windows, if i was in such a position it would be a nightmare for me to have no means to hide of views.

3. I was looking if there are any fundraisers for the hostages and their relatives. Dealing with such a trauma takes a lot, ability to work may be limited after such an event at least for a while and the last thing that these people deserve are financial worries.

So glad to see pictures of families reuniting after the traumatizing events, beautiful to see that there is progress, hope this goes on till all are home.

For how long will Qatar continue to be a home for the leadership of HAMAS? That is a question to ask President Biden.

I feel I am falling down rabbit holes everytime, for my sins, I watch the news. But really are they doing it on purpose?! These are people who had our respect up until the 6th October. They seem to choose words delibrately to spin the narrative against IDF and Israeli. What is it for them to keep Hamas happy?

So yes, please keep up with the correction of information (or rather misinformation). These briefings and newsletters are very important. The least we can do is to dissiminate them where it really matters - to TV stations! At least I feel that they can not insult my intelligence.

To all the team - Don't let anyone BUT YOU write your story. Well done!

I was quite surprised to hear about the Thai nationals that were also abducted on 07 October. I then read up about them a bit, and it seems there are about 30,000 Thais working in Israel, mainly on kibbutz farms. It seems most of them are from poor areas of Thailand, that go to Israel to earn higher wages than they would get in their own country.

Question 1: how many Palestinians are working on these farms?

Question 2: if there are, do they earn the same wage as the Thai nationals, or any other foreign workers?

18,000 Gazans were employed within Israel before this war. Some of them may have supplied details about the communities where they worked to Islamic Resistance Movement (a.k.a HAMAS) that were used to attack those communities. I am confident that if the wages were inconsistent then everyone would know about that. Everything Israel does is continuously placed under telescopes and microscopes by people who work very hard to find anything that they can wield to propagandize against Israel.

Mat,

I believe they took the generosity of Israel and were paid by HAMAS for information. Whatever they were paid is of no matter , the blood of innocents is on their hands. And will be on their heads for life.

As an off the cuff, from memory remark, I think I read there were about 20k relatively recent as part of Israel's policy of "normalising" relations with Gazans following agreements with HAMAS. Wages no idea, more than Gaza though. Clearly its not worked out.

Many Americans are your friends and believe in the security of Israel. NATO/U.S. government/EU is not your friend and cannot be trusted, they serve only their hegemonic globalist agenda. Biden is not your friend and cannot be trusted, he only wants to secure the Jewish vote for 2024 and his base openly supports Hamas and persecutes Jews; Blinken is completely incompetent and is not your friend; Sullivan is utterly untrustworthy and is not your friend. The Neocons in the US just want an excuse to attack Iran and turn it into Iraq. They all want an extended cease fire to cripple Israel security efforts to destroy Hamas, and maintain the deteriorated security risk status quo and force Israel to the negotiating table for Hamas benefit. Biden needs a cease fire only to appease their political base which is hopelessly antisemitic. National, religious, and individual identity threaten their power structure. Palestine national identity is a propaganda fiction created by Yassar Arafat to legitimize the destruction of Israel.
